VISITING Taiwanese youth, under the ‘International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program’ Ms. Yang, Yi-Tang has aspired to take on an employment volunteerism challenge in the Solomon Islands.
Ms. Yang is a member of the Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors that have recently visited the Honiara and she hoped to return back to the country as a volunteering English Teacher if given the opportunity in the near future.
Ms. Yang has completed her major in the English program from National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan.
“This will be my first time to visit the Solomon Islands (SI), and I find SI students are more enthusiastic and they have the heart to embrace new things. Like when we were performing on the stage, the audience was with us, like back at home and other countries the spirit of harmony is very hard to see. But here in the SI, I can feel the harmony, hear it and it’s very impressive,” Ms. Yang said.
24 Taiwanese International Youth Ambassadors including officials have recently visited the country with the aim to broaden the knowledge Solomon Islands and Taiwanese students about both countries cultural and social dynamics.
Ms. Yang described the importance of their visit to the country as a way forward in promoting public diplomacy and creating opportunities for Taiwanese youths to participate in international affairs.
“I’ve seen the program as an important milestone to enable youths from both countries to work together with respect, peace and understanding and its really inspiring.
“Now that we’ve actually seen your people in terms of their culture, we feel that our heart has found us. And maybe in future a lot of us would want to come to the Solomon Islands,” she said.
