Miss Solo Crowned!

Youngest Contestant Overall Winner


2017 Miss Solomon Islands was crowned over the weekend and she is Miss Honiara Hotel, Emily Chan.

The youngest of the 7 contestants was the overall winner, claiming most admired categories in this year’s pageant.

18 year old, Emily was awarded the, Miss Photogenic, Miss Personality, Best Talent award, Best Sarong and Best Traditional contemporary award.

“I’m overwhelmed, I don’t expect to be crowned tonight (Saturday) but through all our time, commitments working together as Miss Honiara Hotel team it is a fine achievement and I’m proud of,” says the Saint Nicolas College student.

“I thank everyone who supported me through out the pageant foremost my parents for their advice and encouragements.

She also stressed the message to young people not to give up in life, and pursue their goals with confidence.

“Don’t give up in what you do, you never know when your time comes and you can contribute and being a voice for men, women and children in the country.

“This is a platform that I’ll do my very best advocating a for women in the country. There are number of issues against women that is yet overlooked, and as a young growing up woman I’ll be a voice for them to the highest level of governance in the country,” she expressed.

Miss Social Media award – Miss Malaita, Greimie Ezra.
